The book · BIFF® for CoParent Communication

If you have ever stared at a hostile text or email from your co-parent, felt your body flood with adrenaline, and typed a paragraph you knew you should not send, this book is for you. BIFF® for CoParent Communication is the co-parent-specific edition in Bill Eddy's BIFF® series, written with family law attorney Annette Burns and licensed counselor Kevin Chafin. It is short, tactical, and grounded in real texts, emails, and social media posts between co-parents.

BIFF® stands for Brief, Informative, Friendly, and Firm. Bill Eddy, LCSW, Esq., co-founder of the High Conflict Institute, developed the method as a response system for parents, professionals, and attorneys dealing with high-conflict people. It is one of the frameworks our coaches use with every client in 1-to-1 coaching, in the SAFE™ Ghostwriting program, and in the 6-Week High Conflict Co-Parenting Skills Intensive™.

What we will cover on August 26

Please read the book before the session. It is short · under 200 pages · you can finish it in a weekend.
  • What BIFF® is and why it works on high-conflict people specifically
  • The four elements: Brief, Informative, Friendly, Firm
  • Bill's 3 A's to avoid in every response · Admonishments, Advice, and Apologies
  • Common mistakes when you first try BIFF® and how to fix them
  • When BIFF® is not enough on its own · and what to layer with it
  • Live Q&A on real communication scenarios you bring to the session
